Addressing the history and form of the book as a symbol embodying the accumulation of human experience, ideas and knowledge.
The project explores the history of books and their collections in the form of libraries, and the reasons for and significance of their destruction. During the course of the project I interact with libraries.
One of the key mediums of the project is wax and its modern counterpart paraffin wax. Wax refers to one of the oldest ways of recording and preserving information, used as far back as ancient Greece — wax tablets that could be assembled several at a time into polyptychs or codices — the progenitors of modern books.
In addition, wax has the ability to connect the disparate and protect against destruction by encapsulating what is inside.
